Tobacco Use Disorder Treatment: A Recovery-Driven Standard of Care

Wednesday, May 10, 2023

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM EST

This one-hour webinar, presented by Dr. Chad Morris, will address the need to establish tobacco treatment as a standard of care, as it interferes with overall recovery for many persons with mental illnesses and addictions. Most individuals who use tobacco want to quit, and tobacco use disorder (TUD) treatment effectively tailored to the behavioral health population can improve treatment outcomes. This presentation will provide health systems with pragmatic, low-burden change strategies and provide clinical guidance for treating TUD. As one means of optimizing care, a co-treatment model will be discussed for TUD and other substance use disorders.

Learning Objectives:

1.      Delineate the reasons TUD treatment is a key to population health and individual behavioral health recovery goals.

2.      Describe the compelling factors for co-treatment of TUD, alcohol and other drug use.

3.      Become familiar with evidence-based strategies for integrating polysubstance use treatment into screening, treatment, and referral.
