Indiana’s JUUL Settlement Funds

You may have seen the announcement below, and to help with any media requests or sharing out as a coalition, Tobacco Free supports the announcement that Indiana’s JUUL settlement funds are intended to be used in support of youth vaping prevention, education, harm reduction and mitigation efforts.

“Our VOICE Youth Ambassador Team is so excited with the recent win of Attorney General Todd Rokita and his team in securing a settlement with JUUL. This is a huge step for our mission to educate and empower teens against drug use. However, the work never stops, our peers suffer from misinformation and lack of education about tobacco and nicotine products. We fully support the plan to use the money gained to fund needed resources in this fight, especially to address nicotine addiction and fund prevention efforts against other tobacco companies’ misleading ads.  We are confident this plan can take us further in our mission to address and reduce teen nicotine and tobacco use.” - Suhita Chibtachalaruva - VOICE Youth Ambassador

This is an opportunity to bolster the progress of youth vaping prevention, education and cessation programs currently in Indiana, both at the state and local level.

While this court decision helps mitigate the harm of one vaping product, there are still several copycat products and other new vaping products on the market that are impacting and influencing Indiana youth. E-cigarettes/vaping is the most commonly used tobacco product among youth.
